Asbestos Surveying

All BDA Surveying Ltd Asbestos Surveys are undertaken by Surveyors holding the British Institute of Occupational Hygiene P402 Proficiency Certificate in Buildings Surveys and Bulk Sampling for Asbestos, and comply with the Health and Safety Executive publication MDHS 100 Surveying, Sampling and Assessment of Asbestos Containing Materials.

Surveys are carried out with the minimum of disruption to the building’s occupants.

BDA Surveying Ltd also holds a UKAS accreditation (UKAS Inspection Body No. 365) for undertaking Surveys.

Type 1 Type 1 surveys are a non intrusive survey which means that only materials visible without damaging décor are noted. They are also a presumptive survey and are carried out with no samples taken for analysis. Any materials that are suspected of containing asbestos materials are presumed so until proven otherwise

Type 2 Type 2 surveys are also non intrusive, however any suspect materials will be sampled on site and taken to a UKAS accredited Bulk Analysis Laboratory for identification.

Type 3 Type 3 surveys are intrusive surveys and are required when a building is to be refurbished of demolished. They are called intrusive surveys as all asbestos materials must be found in the areas in which works are to be carried out and as such investigations will inevitably cause damaged to the building.
