ABOUT ASBESTOS

Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral that is mined in Australia, Canada, South Africa and Russia.

There are 3 common types of asbestos found in the UK:

Crocidolite (Blue Asbestos)

Amosite (Brown Asbestos)

Chrysotile (White Asbestos)

Asbestos is incredibly versatile and has been used as thermal or acoustic insulator or fire retardant.

Large amounts of asbestos containing materials (ACMs) were used for a range of construction purposes in new and refurbished buildings. This extensive use means there are still many buildings in the UK, which contain Asbestos.
